Hailing all things art, innovation and culture, SALT Festival is Eyre Peninsula’s annual celebration of creatives and provides a platform to showcase ideas across a range of topics.

The 10-day festival is a vast collection of events, exhibitions, talks and workshops spread over multiple locations throughout Port Lincoln and the Southern Eyre Peninsula and serves as an opportunity for creatives to not only express themselves through their work but also for the community to bond and build connections.

With the release of the full program earlier this week, it’s easy to see why SALT has taken off. Take part in a mosaics or Turkish tiling class, educate yourself on the Great Southern Reef or listen to the comedic stylings of internationally renowned comedian Fiona O’Loughlin.

The main hub, dubbed The Salt Shaker acts as a base for the festival, almost like a mini Garden of Unearthly Delights if you will, where you can grab a drink, see some live music and take in some of the incredible art exhibitions.

The Salt Stage is also back for 2022 featuring Adelaide’s own George Alice, 7 piece neo-soul powerhouse Kings & Associates and local artists Luke Marshall, No News and Chel – C.

Now in its 5th year, SALT Festival has become a favourite on the Eyre Peninsula calendar and draws people in from far and wide and transforms the region into a thriving hub of activity.

Organisers of the festival are gearing up for a bigger and better SALT Festival now that live music and performance are back on the scene in South Australia with an array of live performances pencilled in for you to pick and choose as you fancy.

This year also sees the introduction of SWAMPSTOCK – A festival-style open mic night where anyone and everyone is welcome to either bust it out on stage or sit back and enjoy the show.

And the pièce de résistance? Upwelling. One of the feature events of 2022, Upwelling is a ‘Symposium of Seafood’ where audiences can enjoy a succulent feast of seafood from the region while learning about the sustainability of the ocean and environment with talks from Associate Professor, Jochen Kaempf. – and the seafood feast, of course, is truly exceptional.

As a community event, volunteers are at the heart of the smooth running and success of the festival so if you want to get involved and get an insight into how something like this is put together, SALT are taking volunteer applications now via their website!

SALT Festival takes place from April 22 – May 1 2022.
