Wakefield and Friends Makers Market
November 12, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Free to attend and enjoy, the Makers Market will run from 11am to 3pm on Sunday 12 November at Wakefield Press, 16 Rose Street, Mile End.
Wakefield Press is a local, independent publishing house with a strong focus on South Australian authors and stories. We make beautiful books which help to highlight our state’s incredible literature, history and visual arts. This is our very first Wakefield and Friends Makers Market where we’ve partnered with a fantastic group of local creatives to further our support for Adelaide’s arts scene.
We will have a sausage sizzle to satisfy any hungry bellies and, for the book-lovers, we’ll be opening up the Wakefield Press bookshop and offering our ever popular 3 for 2 special (cheapest book free) on all books.
Our stall holders have all handmade their wares, which include leather bags and purses, tea towels, aprons, wooden chopping boards, zines, cards, ceramics, art prints and vintage clothing.
The makers include:
- Bel Short Design
- Emma Hough
- Paul Howe
- Susan Minter
- Tracy Crisp (a Wakefield Press author who also makes textiles)
- Ayesha Aggarwal (Handmade Ceramics)
- Ray Tyndale (maker of cards and prints)
- Helen Bennetts
- Darren Wilson-Roberts (vintage seller who also has a food bike, but at the moment will be catering an unknown food)
Children and families are welcome, with kids activities including a colouring-in wall. As the event is outdoors, pets on leashes are also welcome.
For those keen to take a punt, we’ll also have a competition to win a box of our books by correctly guessing how many titles it holds.
