Calling Adelaide Cyclists! Ride Tomorrow For Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

LOCAL BOYS and PATRICK JONKER AIM TO RAISE $10,000

FOR NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT!

Local business identities Sam Di Bacco and David Slama are rallying all riders to help raise much needed funds for the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation with a ‘Ride 4 Kids’.

The ride, on tomorrow, Sunday 28 October, will be hosted by Patrick Jonker, two-time Olympic gold medallist and winner of the 2004 Tour Down Under.

The event is family friendly with the shorter of the routes aimed at novice and young riders.

Ride 4 Kids aims to attract over 100 challengers to take part in either the 15 or 40 kilometres  route in support of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

NICU looks after the tiniest and most fragile of little lives. Funds raised will help with the purchase of life-saving equipment for the nursery. It is estimated that the equipment needed for just one neo-nate cot space is above $100,000.

Ride 4 Kids has already generated buzz in the cycling circles and expressions of support with K-Foods, JRA Studios, Pimp TV, Gescorp International, FruChocs, Felici, Maras Group, Glam Adelaide, Jarvis Group plus others signing on a sponsors of the event in aid of the great cause!

The ten thousand dollars Sam and David aim to raise can buy three infusion pumps, two phototherapy units or a cardio-respiratory monitor.

“We are very grateful to Sam and David for their support and commitment. It is thanks to such community generosity that we are able to provide not just competent, but extraordinary care for the babies at the WCH”, says Sam Tolley, Chief Executive Officer of the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation.
