Candyland returns to McLaren Vale with debut kids edition, sweetening school holidays

Bec Hardy Wines in McLaren Vale is back yet again with its Candyland events – this time with its first-ever kids edition in April, and then an Alice in Wonderland themed adults option later in the year.

A dessert degustation for your little ones? Need we say more? Take them into their very own Candyland world in McLaren Vale this school holidays.

Following the resounding success of its previous Candyland events, McLaren Vale’s Bec Hardy Wines is inviting families to indulge in the magic of confectionery delights for its first-ever Candyland “Kids Edition”.

During the school holidays on Tuesday April 23rd, Bec Hardy Wines will combine sweet treats with a thrilling treasure hunt where the kids can uncover hidden surprises amidst the picturesque vineyards.

While the kids dig into their sweet treats, the adults can relax with a glass of wine and an option to order a grazing board from The Kitchen with fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce from the Fleurieu Peninsula and wider South Australia.

Bec Hardy, co-owner of Bec Hardy Wines, expressed excitement about expanding the Candyland series to include a special edition for kids.

“As a family business, Richard and I are always looking for things to do during the school holidays,” Hardy said.

“The first two adult editions of Candyland have been a runaway success, so I was excited to ask Chef Connor to build a school holiday’s edition including activities, food, and soft drinks! It should be a wonderful experience.”

The popularity of the inaugural Candyland event paved the way for future iterations like the kids exclusive, each one having a distinct theme to keep things fresh and exciting.

“Ever since I’ve been in the industry, I’ve been fixated on desserts. The Candyland event, or dessert degustation in general, has always been an idea in the back of my mind but I hadn’t had the opportunity to bring it to fruition. When I came to Bec Hardy Wines, it was the perfect opportunity to launch something special like Candyland,” Head Chef Connor Bishop says.

Building upon the Kids Edition, Candyland enthusiasts can also look forward to the next installment in the series: CANDYLAND | The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

Scheduled for Saturday August 24th, this event is a part of the Fleurieu Food Festival which showcases the breadth and depth of food and beverage producers and businesses in the region, with Bec Hardy Wines being a stand-out (and award-winner) amongst the selection of local offerings.

This special Candyland event during this festival is set to transport guests into the fantastical realm of Alice in Wonderland, with Chef Connor Bishop leading the foodie experience once again. Get “curiouser and curiouser” as innovative flavour combinations, unexpected textures, and playful presentations land on your table.

This unique dessert degustation will enchant guests with a treasure chest of house-made sweets over a number of courses, with an array of flavours crafted from local produce, all in a setting that is just as awe-inspiring as the menu itself. Plus, tickets include a glass of Bec Hardy Sparkling NV on arrival.

“Our third installment in the Candyland series is inspired by Alice in Wonderland, which will feature a whimsical menu that plays tricks on our guests,” Chef Connor Bishop says, hinting at the delightful surprises in store for attendees.
