The iconic venue, located on the corner of Hindley and Clarendon streets, is now nothing but a distant memory. If the very mention of Cargo incites a warm and fuzzy feeling and has you swooning with nostalgia, you’ll be stoked to discover that a piece of the club is returning to Adelaide for one night only next month, with event reunion ‘Cargo ago go’.
If you’re reading this and scratching your head, wondering what all the fuss is about, you’re probably too young to remember the late-night weekends with long lines of eager partygoers snaking around the street corners of a venue that is now a part of the university. But that’s okay, because you have the chance to be a part of an electrifying new event oozing with the old charms of the club and brimming with talented performers both on stage and on the decks, uniting for one night of magic.
‘Cargo ago go’ will showcase a whopping spectrum of musical mastery, from techno and house to disco, funk, soul, jazz, hip hop and more. Hot on the lineup of the night’s performers will be the legendary 10-piece CARGO SYNDICATE, enchanting vocalist Sandra Pires, and MCs Delta and Muskrat.
The evening will see you putting on your dancing shoes and grooving to the beats that once captivated the best movers and shakers in Adelaide, for an unmissable reunion at the Cloisters at Victoria Drive. Suitable for all ages – although kids will need to be out by midnight, sorry! – the club’s location is different, but the essence remains the same.
