Carols by Candlelight Searching For A Christmas Star To Perform At This Year’s Event

The inaugural OTR Search for a Christmas Star competition has kicked off, where one lucky winner will perform at the 2018 QBE Insurance Carols by Candlelight in Elder Park.

The inaugural OTR Search for a Christmas Star competition has kicked off, where one lucky winner will perform at the 2018 QBE Insurance Carols by Candlelight in Elder Park. With 30,000+ attendees expected to head to the event on December 15, it’s the first time the carols will be held on a Saturday night.

OTR Chief Motivation Officer, Carlos Bay says, “We want to discover Adelaide’s next superstar performer and the OTR Search for a Christmas Star is the perfect way to shine on stage at this magical time of year.”

Singers aged 16 and up are encouraged to submit a video audition to the OTR app before November 6th. The top five finalists will be hand selected by judges – Robert Rigby from Sony Music Entertainment Australia, Carlos Bay from OTR and Shauna Kane, Executive Producer of QBE Insurance Carols by Candlelight.

Shauna Kane, says, “The OTR Search for a Christmas Star is an amazing opportunity for a singer to perform in front of a huge crowd at an iconic, televised event…

“We’re searching for a star – someone who is vocally talented, possesses strong stage presence and has that ability to capture and engage an audience,” says Shauna Kane.

The top five finalists will take the stage in a semi-final, held on 17 and 18 November, where the public will decide who the OTR Christmas Star is. The winner will be mentored by Carols Musical Director, Graeme Press and singing sensation, Paulini, who will also be one of the headline acts at this year’s QBE Insurance Carols by Candlelight.

Proudly presented by the Government of South Australia and OTR, the QBE Insurance Carols by Candlelight is South Australia’s biggest carols event and join the festive community atmosphere, sing along to classic Christmas carols in support of Novita.

Shauna Kane says, “Everyone is welcome to enjoy the fantastic line-up of live entertainment, the fireworks display and exciting activities throughout Elder Park from 2pm, including our pre-show concert at 5pm. Now the event has moved to a Saturday, we encourage families and friends to make a day of it and enjoy the biggest festive celebration of the year.”

Reserved seating that offers prime viewing of the main stage is available from 3pm, with prices starting from $49.
