Carrick Hill, the iconic house museum nestled in the serene landscapes of Springfield, is currently vibrant with spring blooms, thanks to the ‘In Bloom’ exhibition which has its last day this Sunday the 15th of October.
As part of the 2023 Nature Festival of South Australia, the house has been transformed into a living canvas by the talented ‘floral designer in residence,’ Sky Allen of Arcadia Aquatic.
‘In Bloom’ is not your typical floral display; it’s a captivating series of 11 contemporary floral installations and sculptures that have been thoughtfully integrated into the historic Carrick Hill House Museum.
These artistic creations, designed in harmony with the Hayward’s renowned collection of artwork and furniture, pay homage to locally grown flora.
What makes this exhibition even more special is its ever-evolving nature, as the sculptures are refreshed with freshly bloomed flowers from the Carrick Hill Gardens.
Sky Allen, the creative mind behind Arcadia Aquatic, is no stranger to crafting large floral pieces for prestigious venues and events.
“Through my studio Arcadia aquatic I’ve designed large pieces for the likes of Restaurant Botanic, Nature Festival and Africola Canteen before, explained Sky, but creating sculptures over ten rooms gives visitors a wonderful new experience of this iconic house and its amazing art collection,” Sky Allen, Arcadia Aquatic.
The ‘In Bloom’ exhibition presented a unique opportunity to collaborate with Carrick Hill, turning 10 rooms into immersive floral experiences.
Visitors to the ‘In Bloom’ exhibition can expect to be surprised and delighted as they explore Carrick Hill’s historical rooms now adorned with contemporary floral art.
“The ‘In Bloom’ exhibition will surprise and delight both regular and new visitors to Carrick Hill. Now is fabulous time to visit, as for a short time visitors can experience both the ‘In Bloom’ and ‘Adelaide Mid-Century Moderns’ exhibitions as well as the permanent Hayward Collection,” Susan McCormack, Director Carrick Hill says.
