Cast of the Mousetrap Hits Adelaide Today

The Australasian cast of the world’s most famous thriller – Agatha Christie’s iconic play The Mousetrap – hits Adelaide today, where it will play at the Dunstan Playhouse from October 9 – 28. After sell-out seasons in Sydney, Canberra, Perth and Melbourne, Adelaide’s season is sure to be a repeat success.

The Mousetrap is brought to life by a stellar cast that has thrilled audiences right across Australia. The cast will be available for interview on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 of October, in the lead up to what is sure to be another sell out season in Adelaide.

Robert Alexander takes on the role of Mr Paravicini and is well known for his continuous work with the Bell Shakespeare Company and for his roles in Dance Academy and Muriel’s Wedding. Travis Cotton, who most recently took the stage in MTC’s Hamlet, appears as the hilarious Christopher Wren, named so by his parents in the hope that he may grow up to be an architect. Linda Cropper, who appears in Little Fish, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and can currently be seen in channel 10’s Offspring, appears as the highly contentious Mrs Boyle. Nicholas Hope (AFI recipient; Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Bad Boy Bubby) takes the stage as the highly logical Major Metcalf and Jacinta John, known for her roles in All Saints and McLeod’s Daughters, plays Miss Casewell. Gus Murray, who will appear in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby, takes The Mousetrap stage as the host of Monkswell Manor, Giles Ralston. His loving wife Molly Ralston, is played by the wonderful Christy Sullivan, who has appeared in Packed to the Rafters and most recently starred in The Production Company’s Anything Goes as Hope Harcourt and MTC’s Next to Normal as Natalie. Justin Smith (Bastard Boys, Rent, Billy Elliot the Musical) rounds off this first class cast as Detective Sergeant Trotter.

2012 marks The Mousetrap’s (60th) Diamond Anniversary and this new production is one of 60 professional productions that have been licensed worldwide in year-long global celebrations of the milestone. The Mousetrap is the longest running show of any kind in the world and continues to delight audiences to this day at London’s St. Martin’s Theatre. Christie’s classic ‘whodunit” opened on London’s West End in November 1952 and has since played over 24,000 performances.
