Adelaide is gearing up for an exciting alternative to the traditional Adelaide Cup with the announcement of the 2025 Scratch Pet Food Canine Cup! Scheduled for Monday, March 10th at Plant 3 Bowden, from 12pm to 4pm, this event is a unique blend of glamour and purpose, supporting local animal welfare charities.

Now in its seventh year, the Canine Cup is a total celebration of animal lovers and the bonds they share with their pets. This year, the event sees a collaboration between two locally founded charities, Paws for Change and Safe Pets Safe Families. All proceeds from the day will be utilised to bolster their programs that serve animals and the community both locally and globally.

“Paws For Change has proudly supported the Canine Cup for many years, so when the opportunity arose to host this incredible event, we jumped at the chance. The Canine Cup is always such a fun-filled day and a vibrant celebration of passionate dog lovers coming together to make a meaningful difference for those in need. This year, we’re thrilled to team up with our good friends at Safe Pets Safe Families and, together, we aim to create a lasting impact by raising funds to support both animal and community welfare,” shared Annie Leo, CEO & Founder of Paws for Change

“Partnering with Canine Cup is a meaningful opportunity for Safe Pets Safe Families to raise vital funds and provide a compassionate alternative while saying ‘Nup to the Cup.’ This event not only raises awareness about our mission but also provides the community with a chance to celebrate the love and bond we share with our pets. Together, we can promote kindness, create change, and work towards a future free from cruelty in the name of entertainment,” said Jennifer Howard, CEO & Founder of Safe Pets Safe Families.

The festival-like atmosphere at the Canine Cup will let visitors to enjoy a race day with a twist. Instead of live races, attendees will watch six pre-recorded races showcasing “top dogs” on the big screen. The event also features the Fashions on the Field segment where both humans and their furry friends can participate, showcasing either glamorous attire or creative costumes.

To complement the spirit of the day, there will be a lineup of local South Australian food and drinks, alongside activities such as raffles, a silent auction, a photo booth, and market stalls. Adding to the festivity, singer-songwriter Sarah McLeod will make a guest appearance, and DJ JoSH will keep the tunes flowing throughout the event.

For those keen to experience this unique event, two ticket options are available. General Admission tickets are priced at $89 and include race tokens, a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, shared canapés, and a dessert along with a take-home ‘Doggy Bag’. For a more exclusive experience, the VIP “Puppy Penthouse” tickets are available at $130, offering guests a private viewing area, cocktail on arrival, private bar, and a variety of gourmet food options.

The 2025 Scratch Pet Food Canine Cup stands as a prime example of community and corporate cooperation, with Scratch Pet Food playing a crucial role alongside other sponsors such as Jaks Hire, Audio Visual Hire, Sew & Sew Wines, and Hahndorf Providence Cottage.
