Enjoy this Lunar New Year in the heart of Adelaide at Chinatown Plaza as they continue a decade-long celebration of the arrival of spring.
Lunar New Year is celebrated by millions around the world and is the most important holiday in China and other countries across Asia. 2025 is the year of the Snake, which symbolises introspection, wisdom and transformation while offering opportunities for personal growth and change. Lunar New Year is a time for cultural traditions, family reunions, and hopes for good fortune in the coming year.
In 2025, Lunar New Year falls on January 29th, kicking off the 16-day Spring Festival.

Chinatown Plaza will be celebrating Lunar New Year on Saturday, January 18th, with an Asian banquet with Tomich Wines and spectacular lion dances. This is the perfect occasion to immerse yourself in the culture with family and friends. This event is presented with the help of the Australian Croatian Chamber of Commerce & Industry SA.
Tomich Wines is a family-owned and operated winery located in Woodside in the Adelaide Hills. Originating from the Adriatic Coast in Croatia, winemaking is a way of life. This is reflected in their premium cool climate wines and philosophy.
Although the menu hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, with seven fantastic restaurants located within the plaza, there’s no chance of leaving hungry. At Chinatown Plaza, you can find Yum Cha, Cardamon which serves Northern Thai cuisine, Vietnamese restaurant Bay’s, Malaysian and Singaporean restaurant Kampung Boy, Poseidon Kitchen which serves Dong Bei food, Izakaya Japanese, and also a Cocktail Bar.
