Rundle Mall is set to party large this year with the biggest ever Chinese Lunar New Year celebration to hit the shopping strip on Friday, February 4th.
Kicking off at noon the street party, celebrating the year of the Tiger is expected to see thousands of punters join in the festivities.
Rundle Mall will celebrate the year of the tiger with traditional lion dances every hour, on the hour, from 12 pm to 6 pm on Friday. Watch in wonderment as professional acrobatic dancers in full crimson and yellow Chinese lion costumes weave their way down the Mall causing mischief, performing spectacular feats and ducking in and out of stores.
Feeling lucky? Shoppers can find the God of Fortune handing out more than 1500 red envelopes from 12 pm to 4 pm, containing golden chocolate coins, and a chance to receive Rundle Mall shopping vouchers and Rundle Place dining vouchers.
There will also be an Instagram-worthy sea of lantern lights under the Gawler Place canopy for shoppers to snap pictures.
An array of Rundle Mall retailers have also created special offers and Lunar New Year limited edition collections, so be sure to visit David Jones, Myer, Mecca, Pandora, Sephora, L’Occitane, Mimco, Haigh’s Chocolates and Koko Black.
Adelaide Economic Development Agency’s Rundle Mall Program Manager, Nicola Smith says the mall will come alive.
“Rundle Mall will be alive with bright colours, music and dancing to celebrate the Year of the Tiger,” said Nicola Smith.
“We encourage everyone to come into the Mall to enjoy the sights, sounds and spectacle of Lunar New Year.”
