Celebrate Women AND Wine This International Women’s Day

This Thursday is International Women’s Day, and it turns out everyone is celebrating! Our faves Vinomofo included.

This Thursday is International Women’s Day., and it turns out everyone is celebrating! Our faves Vinomofo included. Turns out this year they are creating an exclusive female winemakers case that is made by extraordinary female winemakers across our great country! (yasss, kween!)

International Women’s Day, a day when women are recognised for all their achievements, from political to social and everything in between, will see Vinomofo launch the ‘International Women’s Day Pack’, a case of six wines made from female leaders within the industry, with all profits of the case going towards Rare Birds, a global female movement which empowers and encourages young women around the globe into entrepreneurship.

Inside the case:
● Penley Estate Black Bull Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
(Made by Kate Goodman)
● Star Lane Vineyard Quattro Vitigni Beechworth 2015 (Made by Liz Barnes)
● Bellarmine Shiraz 2014 (Made by Di Miller)
● Oliver’s Taranga Grenache 2015 (Made by Corrina Wright)
● Penny’s Hill Skeleton Key Shiraz 2016 (Made by Alexia Roberts)
● Tarrawarra Estate Pinot 2015 (Made by Clare Holloran)

Whilst women are feeling empowered more than ever, Andre Eikmeier, joint CEO and co-founder of Vinomofo, acknowledges that this discussion is yet to fully make its way to the wine industry.

“It’s impossible to miss the glaring gender inequalities and prejudices still pervasive in the wine industry,” says Andre Eikmeier.

This case aims to spark conversation and awareness with more than just those involved in the industry, but instead, encourage mofos across the nation to ‘Buy It. Think About It. Enjoy it. Tell your mates’.

Additionally, Eikmeier has announced that Vinomofo will add a search tag on the site, giving people the option to browse, choose, buy and drink wines made by women.

So get your hands on some vino (mofos) this Thursday and help celebrate and support some of the amazing ladies making the wine we need (sorry! love… we don’t need the wine…).

To pick up your own case head here on March 8 (International Women’s Day).
