Celebrate World Gin Day with Never Never & Bottega Gelateria’s new limited-edition flavour

Never Never and Bottega’s Ginache Berry Swirl is the latest collab for the two South Australian labels and is available exclusively for World Gin Day.

Bottega Gelateria and Never Never Distilling Co. have created a gelato for World Gin Day and pack your passport, you’re going to flavour country.

The two South Australian labels have teamed up to celebrate the upcoming release of their new vintage of their much loved Grenache Gin, Ginache by infusing it into a brand spanking new gelato flavour.

The Ginache Berry Swirl is a limited time flavour offer that infuses Ginache Gin into both the decadent creamy base and also the lashings of berry and grape syrup swirled through the gelato itself.

The release celebrates World Gin Day this Saturday and will only be available for the coming long weekend so hold my cone while I go get in line. “I always remember having Boysenberry swirl ice cream when I was a little kid,” says Never Never Brand Director Sean Baxter.

“I used to always dig around for the fruit first, it would send my brothers and sister crazy because I’d hog all the good stuff,

“When I first tried this year’s Ginache Gin, the first thing I remembered was that Boysenberry Swirl ice cream from my childhood, so what better way to get people excited for the launch than to collaborate with Bottega to do something even more special,” he says.

This isn’t your typical boysenberry swirl, this is supercharged with all the boozy, juicy wonder that is the Ginache Gin. Never Never Distilling Co. is pretty well known for causing a stir. Releasing a gelato collaboration in winter is a pretty good example of that.

“It’s a flavour absolutely built for the cooler weather,” says Sean. “The swirl is a concentration of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and red grape reduced down into a syrupy, unctuous, compote, fortified with this year’s Ginache gin.”

All customers that visit the Glenelg or Henley Beach stores over the long weekend will also gain access to this year’s Ginache pre-sale so you can celebrate World Gin Day with an exciting new gin release in the mail.

Never Never’s Ginache Gin is made using freshly pressed McLaren Vale grenache fruit, lovingly steeped and combined with their signature Triple Juniper Gin. It was the first of its kind and is quickly amassing a cult following around Australia.

“This year’s Ginache is dark and luxurious, with waves of cherry and cacao developing into juicy explosions of plum and mulberry,” says Sean. “It’s cracking in a gin and tonic or just pour it over gelati, we did.

“That’s the thing that’s so incredible about the Ginache. It’s so immediately drinkable that you don’t really have to think too hard about it, just get it in your mouth.”

All of Bottega’s Gelati is made from scratch using a combination of traditional techniques and state of the art equipment designed to build silky smooth textures and dense, luxurious flavour.

The gelato was created by gelato master Adriano Macri, the owner of Bottega Gelateria. His focus on flavour and his philosophy of working with local producers to source the freshest and most exciting ingredients led him to collaborate once again with Never Never.

“We are really excited about this one,” says Andriano, “I think it’s turned out better than we had even imagined.

“At Bottega Gelateria, we have always sought to capture more flavour in everything that we make,” says Adriano. “Never Never share the same philosophy, using local ingredients to great effect,” he says.

It will be available at both stores until the small-batch flavour has run out. As with all Bottega Gelateria specials, they are only available in small volumes. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

Bottega Gelateria is located at:
249a Seaview Road, Henley Beach 5022 and
58 Jetty Rd, Glenelg 5045
