Celebrate World Whisky Day All Week With Whisky Flights At The Collins Bar

With almost 100 whiskies in its collection, The Collins Bar will mark World Whiskey Day by offering four exclusive ‘Whiskey Flights’ all week, which showcase producers from around Asia and Europe, as well as homegrown Australian distilleries.

The Collins Bar will take its customers on a tasting experience across the globe to celebrate World Whiskey Day on Saturday 20 May.

With almost 100 whiskies in its collection, The Collins Bar will mark World Whiskey Day by offering four exclusive ‘Whiskey Flights’ all week, which showcase producers from around Asia and Europe, as well as homegrown Australian distilleries.

Tim Redman of The Collins Bar said that he hoped that World Whiskey Day would encourage people to expand their knowledge and enjoyment of whiskey.

“World Whiskey Day is a great opportunity to celebrate whiskey and educate people wanting to learn more about it, from those completely new to whiskey to connoisseurs,” Tim said.

“Our Whiskey Flights have been designed to highlight the diversity of whiskey. Whiskey has been traditionally associated with Scotland, but it is becoming a truly international drink.”

The Around the World Whiskey Flight features Taiwanese label Kavalan, who won two awards at the prestigious World Whiskey Awards in 2015.

The emerging Australian whiskey industry is also showcased through a Whiskey Flight which includes a blend from Starward, a Victorian distillery who were last year named Best Craft Distiller Whiskey at the San Francisco Global Spirits Competition.

For people wanting to get started on their whiskey journey, Tim recommends the Japanese Whiskey Flight.

“Japanese whiskies are a great starting point to the world of whiskey for those wanting to try. They are very smooth and approachable, yet still very complex and full of flavour.”

Tim’s personal favourite is the Hibiki Harmony, which has a palate of caramelised honey, sherry, spicy cinnamon and nutmeg, candied orange, rosemary with a hint of smoke.

“It’s a super smooth blended whiskey that has that real warming feeling but is not too heavy in flavour,” Tim said.

Whiskey Flights will be available at The Collins Bar until World Whiskey Day on Saturday 20 May.
