Eponymous Adelaide label, Sally Phillips, launched its AW23 collection in February and has now dropped new Winter arrivals to compliment.
From leather silhouettes, to statement shirts, the new pieces add to an already stunning AW23 collection which redefines what it means to rely on a capsule wardrobe.
You may have come across the term ‘capsule wardrobe’ and felt perplexed, but it’s actually much simpler than it appears. Essentially, it involves organising your clothes into distinct, reliable, and timeless ‘capsules’ that can be mixed and matched to create a variety of perfect outfits.
While for some, that might sound boring, it certainly doesn’t have the be. In fact, Sally Phillips’ AW23 and Winter essentials collection is quite the opposite. While neutral tones are often what comes to mind for a capsule wardrobe, the label is showing us how you can incorporate colour and elegance into everyday dressing.

The AW23 collection embraces whimsical prints and playful hues inspired by A Garden of Stars “Jardin des étoiles.” Pops of Pomegranate, Clover and Periwinkle add an element of vibrancy to the staple shades of Slate, Mocha and Fondant.
“We designed this collection with much more colour than we ever have showcased in for Autumn/Winter range. We wanted our clients to walk in the showroom and look at the designs like a breath of fresh air with beautiful silks and soft linens in earthy tones as well as some fun pops of colour,” designer Sally Phillips tells Glam Adelaide.
Sally Phillips creates tight collections filled with elevated essentials to compliment other pieces from the brand that are already existing in people’s wardrobes.
“I design the collections to all work seamlessly together, helping our clients to create a rewarding capsule wardrobe season after season,” Sally says.
“Things are becoming more transeasonal these days with lots of people travelling and need for transeasonal dressing. It’s important that people can mix new pieces with old pieces to create a smart wardrobe.”
Another important element when building a capsule wardrobe is choosing items that will last the test of time.
The 60 piece collections are designed to reduce surplus and waste, and to stand the test of time and not be thrown away. Natural fibres also play an important role as opposed to synthetics.
“99% of what we use is natural fibres, like cottons, linens, silks and cotton velvets,” Sally says.
“We always strive to grow and learn more as the world around change and more opportunities come our way. We will continue to put action in place to help reduce our carbon footprint whilst also being able to maintain a luxurious, bespoke experience.”
That opulent experience also comes down to the personalisation of your experience with the label.
“Over the [23] years the label has grown and changed but we have always strived to stay true to why we began in the first place. When I started the Sally Phillips label, I wanted to create a space where women could come and shop a capsule wardrobe with the guidance of our stylists, I found there was a gap in the market where you couldn’t receive a personalised shopping experience unless you were to hire a private stylist,” Sally says.
The label shows the collections by appointment only from its Fullarton Road studio, with the designer and the team of stylists upon a season’s release. Sally Phillips also shows throughout Australian capital cities to a private Clientele base.
