The renowned Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival is returning, this time with pop-up restaurant Izakaya Kevin.
The brainchild of Electra House’s Chad Hanson, Izakaya Kevin is a yakitori grill with a 28-seater restaurant bar and takeaway.
Hanson is undoubtedly a big name in the Adelaide hospitality industry, having been heavily involved in Sean’s Kitchen, Eden and Vodka Bar, and of course, the highly lauded Electra House. He is also a bit of a legend in the mixology world, recently taking out a national cocktail competition in Sydney.
The idea for Izakaya Kevin stems back to Tasting Australia, during which Hanson built his own yakitori barbecue with material from Bunnings and served food to great praise from punters.
Evidently, the concept has stuck, and Izakaya Kevin marks Hanson’s first official pop-up.
According to Hanson, Izakaya Kevin will be serving charcoal grilled skewers of traditional skin on chicken, beef, pork, king oyster mushrooms and fried cuttlefish balls with many condiments and sauces.
The Beer & BBQ Fest crew will also be on hand, offering some funky Japanese and Colab beers to accompany the food.
Izakaya Kevin is set to serve food to hungry festival-goers over the course of the Beer and BBQ weekend.
If Hanson’s history is anything to go by, punters are sure to enjoy the yakitori barbeque alongside the rest of the festival’s offerings.
