Searching for your next fix of Indian food in the city? Well, look no further than Adelaide’s newest Indian fusion restaurant, Chakna Tandoori Bites, who have officially opened their doors today for lunch and dinner dining seven days a week.
Born from a desire to create a “one-stop destination for food, drinks, and good times”, Chakna Tandoori Bites offers a conveniently located venue on Rundle Street where diners can enjoy cocktails, sizzling tapas platters, and the spicy vibrancy of Indian cuisine under one roof.
After arriving in Australia six-and-a-half years ago, owners Ravi and Neetu Singh have had their hearts set on opening an Indian restaurant in the heart of Adelaide. From bustling streets to fine dining, they’ve together curated a menu that reflects the evolution of Indian cuisine, with fusions of tradition and modernity sprinkled into each mouthful. Sparing no expense to deliver a uniquely enjoyable dining experience, the owners have adorned their space with soft lighting features and handmade cutlery from Turkey to accompany soft booths and bar seating options.
To distinguish their menu from similarly designed establishments, general manager Rishi Duhoon has infused the menu with a selection of authentic, vibrant tapas, an element he believed was missing from Adelaide’s Indian restaurants. This fusion of flavours and styles served as the inceptive idea for the creation of Chakna Tandoori Bites, bringing “the true essence of North Indian tapas” to Adelaide’s CBD.
Crafted to offer an alluring fusion of classical tandoori dishes and contemporary tapas-style entrees, Chakna’s menu features a feast of dishes prepared with fresh ingredients, aromatic spices, and a tantalising balance of flavours. Highlights from the menu include a diverse range of classic curries and paneers, salads and Indian breads, platters, as well as sizzlers – an Indian medley of crispy finger foods that the Chakna chefs consider the restaurant’s prize feature.
Besides traditional Indian tandoori options, the chefs at Chakna have devised a number of Aussie-infused specialties, such as the pepper-fried prawns. And in addition to their six-page food menu, Chakna offer a dazzling variety of fifty cocktails and a range of shots, as well as Australian wines and tap beers.
The restaurant hosted a pre-launch tasting on the 23rd and officially opened their doors today. With many eager foodies excited to sample Chakna’s thoughtfully curated flavours, we expect this venue to book out quickly during its opening weeks. Make sure to get online and make a reservation to try for yourself!
