High school formals and year 12 graduations can definitely be costly.
Add up the fancy shoes, glitzy dress or suit and shiny accessories, and you’ve got a big price tag.
Throw in the cost of the event, transport, makeup and hair styling and you might just break the bank.
Non for profit organisation With Love Formal Wear is dedicated to making these events more affordable for those experiencing financial hardship.
The charity dresses children and teens for year 6/7 graduation or year 12 formal from head to toe at no charge for families struggling to make ends meet.
They offer all formal wear including dresses, suits, blazers, shirts and pants of all sizes and styles, so kids can look and feel just as they like on their special night.
They also provide formal shoes, clutches and handbags, jewellery, tiaras and hair accessories, vests, ties, belts and even nail varnish to help students feel and look amazing.
With formal wear often worn once then left in the back of the closet, the concept makes the most of stunning outfits that can then be loved and admired again and again.
The concept supports slow fashion and reducing waste, all while helping those in need.
The charity accepts donations on the second Saturday of each month at their pop up boutique in Salisbury South, where students can also go to source their formal wear.
Their next event is set to take place on October 9 from 9 am to 4 pm, welcoming those in need to find formal wear or inviting those with donations to make a drop off.
They also accept donations at Golden Grove, Grange and Blackwood by negotiation.
If you’ve got formal wear stored away collecting dust, you can give them a second life by donating to With Love Formal Wear.
The pop up store is located at 1506 Main North Salisbury South.
