With great wines from all over the world making their way to George’s on Waymouth on the reg, you know that if George stocks it, it’s a top notch wine. So when we heard Charles Melton Wines will be joining George’s on Waymouth on 16 August for a wine dinner, we knew we’d be in for a treat.
Producing premium Barossa reds since 1984, Charlie of Charles Melton Wines has built a small wine empire, with a range of classic dry reds now considered as leading examples of the varieties. With an exclusive opportunity to join the man behind the wine, Charlie, for a decadent dinner with perfectly matches wines, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the sweet, full body of the Nine Popes, and the hint of spice with a crisp finish of the Rose of Virginia.
Enjoy some mushroom and truffle arancini and slurp down some oysters while you have a full range tasting of Charles Melton’s current vintage releases.
Following this tasting with a four course dinner with matching wines, George and Charlie are set to indulge your every sense. Imagine a Tasmanian Salmon gravlax with yuzu gel, mandarin, grapefruit and olive crumb, paired with the 2016 Pretty Little Thing Riesling; a Duck breast with water chestnut and duck spring roll, spicy hoisin and crispy shallots, paired with two glasses of Nine Popes from vintages nine years apart; and a chocolate pudding with lavender, blackberry sorbet and orange zest, paired with the very rare Sotto di Ferro NV Pedro Ximenez.
With limited seats, and a surprise magnum or two of something very special from Charlie’s personal cellar, you’ll have a major case of FOMO if you don’t clear your schedule. At only $150 per person, this is an evening of great food, wine and company that you don’t want to miss.
