An International Women’s Day Russian inspired luncheon is coming up

Celebrate International Women’s Day at Siberia with a Russian inspired lunch and 2 soon to be announced guest speakers.

International Women’s Day has been an important tool in the fight for Women’s equality around the world and 2021’s day is just around the corner.

Adelaide sees a number of amazing events highlighting the achievements of women in our community and the work that still needs to be done to reach gender equality.

Popular East End restaurant Siberia is holding an International Women’s Day event which will feature Lisa McAskill as a guest speaker, and Catherine Lambert, who will be doing a mini-concert after the lunch.

Siberia’s Foundder Elena Ambrose is holding a fundraiser luncheon in aid of the Zahara Foundation.

The Zahara Foundation is a charity that was established in 2015 following the tragic murder of Zahra Abrahimzadeh, who was killed by her former husband in 2010 after enduring 20 years of domestic violence.

They are a South Australian based charity supporting women and children affected by domestic and family violence by specifically addressing the financial abuse and disadvantage most women experience as a result of domestic violence, providing specifically tailored programs and services that promote the economic empowerment of women.

Elena has chosen to hold this event as being from Russia International Women’s Day has special significance to her.

The day was first marked in 1913 and now is seen as the equivalent of mothers day in Russia.

100 percent of the ticket sales for this event are going to the amazing Zahara foundation as Elena with her own experiences with Domestic violence knows how important this charity is.

The event will be a three course luncheon with two special keynote speakers to be announced very soon.

The $75 ticket includes the three course Russian inspired lunch plus a glass of Tomich Wine.

The menu starts off with a Kale & Prosciutto salad with blue cheese and sugar-cured pears.

Main course is a Siberian Style Golubtsi ( minded meats and vegetables wrapped up in a cabbage leaf and Krautwurst Sausage – Seasoned vegetables made up of cauliflower, tomatoes, leek, sweet potatoes, pumpkin & mushroom wrapped in cabbage leaves covered in Siberia’s own wine tomato sauce.

The lunch finishes with Crushed Meringue with pineapple and orange , sauce, fresh fruits, and whipped cream.

There are vegan options available for every course.

Siberia’s International Women’s Day is on Monday March 8.
