TacoCat is a food truck that pops up around town serving fresh Mexican street food.

Husband and wife duo Benji and Erin Mcinerney have been cooking up delicious tacos, burritos and more over the last 10 years, however, they have now announced TacoCat will be hitting the road and moving to Port Lincoln.

Now’s your chance to enjoy their much-loved meals before they head off in mid 2022.

Beji said TacoCat first launched in 2011 where they traded at the Gilles Street Market. Inspired from their travels in North America, Benji and Erin wanted to start up a Taco cart themselves.

“We were dreaming of selling tacos,” Benji said.

“We thought let’s give it a crack if we don’t make money at all at least we had a go.”

Four months later, they bought a food van which became the home of TacoCat until mid 2020 where TacoCat eventually relocated into a new van.

TacoCat is often found at the front on the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Thebarton three to four times a month. TacoCat also pops up at events and wineries and breweries such at Watkins Wines Cellar Door, Patritti and SixTwelve Brewing.

TacoCat sells taco options including Herbie’s Shrooms with chipotle mushrooms and guacamole, Speedy Gonzalez with chicken and salsa verde and Fanta Pants with spicy chorizo.

You’ll be able to find TacoCat at the Wheatsheaf Hotel in January 2022 and follow TacoCat on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date until they relocate out of town.

Wheatsheaf Hotel is located at 39 George St, Thebarton.
