Say hello to the South’s newest skateboarding destination, promising to mentor the next-gen of avid skaters.
Free Mind Skate School is an all-inclusive skateboarding hub based in Christies Beach. It promises to focus on strong relationships and building the community while promoting safe and consistent progression on a skateboard.
Free Mind Skate School caters to all ages, genders, and skill levels so no one feels left out, even if your ollie is shocking.
The school first announced that it would be opening in March this year. Not only does the school provide private coaching for up-and-coming skaters, but it also offers a tailored mentoring service called the Stigma Stall Program.
The program is aimed at developing better everyday living skills and increased social interaction. The Stigma Stall Program utilises a blend of social-psychological principles and concepts to help those identify areas of concern regarding behaviours and attitudes towards the world in which they exist.
As well as being an avid skater, Stigma Stall mentor Josh also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioural Science. The school acknowledges that positive mentorship through skateboarding in a trusting and informal environment can serve as a great foundation that positive change can be built upon.
Skateboarders in general are incredibly resilient, which comes from years of being knocked down and getting back up. The Stigma Stall Program aims to make participants comfortable with who they are, despite their setbacks and the school is much less concerned with creating elite skaters.
Free Mind Skate School understands that with the right encouragement and guidance, any result is possible.
For those of you who think skating is an outdoor sport, Free Mind Skate School has you covered. The school recently announced that have installed its very own private indoor skatepark to combat those rainy blues.
