The Adelaide Central Market’s Smelly Cheese Shop has teamed up with Hugo Wines to host an epic event for cheese lovers. The Raclette & Winter Cheese event, which takes place on Wednesday, June 9, is based around raclette. Described by the Smelly Cheese Shop as “oozy, creamy, nutty and sexy,” the popular Swiss dish is based on heating a big wheel and scraping the melted cheese.

In addition to learning the art of raclette, guests will also be treated to tastings of four other winter “smelly” cheeses. While the specifics of the cheeses hasn’t been announced, the Smelly Cheese Shop says they will be serving up four different ages of comté and a Swiss gruyère.

Each of the cheesy dishes will be paired with Hugo Wines in the McLaren Vale, so guests will get the proper wine and dine experience.

The Central Market fromagerie and winery will join forces to host the latest of the wildly popular Cheese After Dark tasting masterclasses on Wednesday, but this is hardly the first! Past events at the Adelaide Central Markets have given customers a rarely seen side of the markets after closing, with a long dining table down the normally busy aisles. The nights of true indulgence are always still somehow educational, with past events teaching attendees about cheese maturing and specific wine pairings.

The latest instalment Smelly Cheese Shop’s Cheese After Dark event will take place on June 9 at 6:30pm.
