CheeseFest 2010

CheeseCheeseFest is a celebration of the Australian specialty cheese industry providing an opportunity for cheesemakers to promote and raise the awareness of the art of specialty cheesemaking.
Meet the Makers
The one day Festival gives visitors the opportunity to ‘meet the makers’. Cheese makers from around Australia will be on site talking about their specialty cheeses. Come and learn about the many different styles of cheese produced locally and nationally.
Food and Wine
Sample and purchase the cheeses on offer as well as other complementary local produce including delicious cheese platters.
Gourmet meals will be available to purchase from local and regional restaurants. Match your gourmet delights to the fine selection of South Australian wine that can be purchased on the day.
Entertainment
Free activities including celebrity chef cooking demonstrations by patron Simon Bryant, Michael Angelakis and Paul Wood.
Musical entertainment by Chad Romero’s Cabernet Cabaret.
Children’s entertainment area with face painting, clowns and circobats. Paid carnival amusements will also be available.

CheeseFest, in its fifth year has previously been held at the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Visitor Centre and the last two years at Rymill Park, Adelaide City.

The Smelly Cheese Shop Masterclasses at The Stag Hotel

Be first to get your Masterclass tickets – the classes will be held during CheeseFest at The Stag Hotel (across the road from Rymill Park). Maximum participants 30 per class so book early to avoid disappointment.

CheeseFest Cheese Sensory Masterclass presented by Russell Smith & Ueli Burger
Cheese Expert, Russell Smith and Ueli Berger Head Cheese Maker of the Famous King Island Dairy will explain how to taste cheese, what aspects of cheese make it a good one and how to pick out the different flavours in a cheese. This class is suitable for any foodie that wants to understand how the palate works and to get the most out of flavours.

The Smelly Cheese Shop Masterclasses at The Stag presented by Valerie Henbest
Valerie Henbest, Cheese Expert, from The Smelly Cheese Shop will take you on a journey of matching cheese and wine, beer and cider. Valerie will simplify this fascinating art and give you the basic understanding to be your own judge.
A variety of cheese styles – from fresh, soft white and washed rind styles, to Cheddar, Parmesan and blue will be used.
An interesting selection of wines will also be used to match with the cheeses, particicipants are encouraged to taste, explore, discuss and enjoy!
These masterclasses will suit beginners and those with seasoned tastebuds, learn how to enjoy cheese and wine at its best.

Cheese and Wine Matching 3.00 – 4.00 pm
