Great news, cherry lovers! To drum up even more excitement for the holiday season, Lennane Orchard have announced that they will commence picking Earlise and Earlisweet variety cherries this week, with their cafe and shed door open daily from 9am to 4pm going forward.
Lennane Orchards is located in the picturesque Montacute Valley, only 20 minutes from the Adelaide CBD and 5 minutes from the eastern suburbs. Cherries have grown on the property for over 100 years, but when current owners David & Elise Leonard purchased the land in 2005, they began an intensive program of upgrading and redeveloping the orchard and packing facilities. The orchard now grows over 20 different varieties, delivering some of the earliest and tastiest cherries the Adelaide Hills has to offer.
In Australia, the first cherry harvest starts usually start in October and November and extends through to late February, with the majority of cherry crops harvested during December and January. Lennane Orchards will be picking cherries from early November through to Christmas, with the farm gate and cafe open for you and your family to come and relax, taste some delicious cherries, home baked cherry treats, ice-creams and other cherry products.
An important thing to note is that Lennane Orchards do not offer pick-your-own cherries. Rather, all their cherry-related goodies will be available for purchase at the shed door and cafe.
