Following its successful Australian tour, which began with a bang at Crown Theatre, Perth, CHICAGO has been receiving rave reviews.

The production will make its way through the Lyric Theatre QPAC, Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne, and the Capitol Theatre in Sydney, before finally gracing the Festival Theatre in Adelaide from 4 August. The cast for the Adelaide season will be announced soon, adding to the anticipation.

CHICAGO, the longest-running show currently on Broadway, is a scorching hot masterpiece. It boasts a glittering score featuring hits like “All That Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango,” and “Razzle Dazzle.” The combined musical theatre genius of John Kander, Fred Ebb, and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse has earned CHICAGO six Tony Awards®, two Olivier Awards, and a Grammy®.

John Frost, the producer for Crossroads Live, expressed his excitement about bringing the show to his hometown, Adelaide. “CHICAGO has everything that makes a Broadway musical spectacular – a gripping story, stunning dance numbers, and show-stopping music. It’s a New York institution that Adelaide audiences will absolutely love,” he said.

Critics have lauded the show with high praise:

  • “Sexy, pin-sharp and near flawless” – Sydney Morning Herald
  • “Broadway’s Most Electrifying Show” – Entertainment Weekly, USA
  • “The most exciting musical of its generation” – The Times, UK
  • “A Triumph” – Time Magazine, USA

Set in the 1920s, CHICAGO tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who turns to Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into sensational headlines. The musical is a thrilling mix of murder, greed, corruption, exploitation, adultery, and treachery, all set to a backdrop of jazz.

The 1996 Broadway revival of CHICAGO features choreography by Tony Award winner Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and direction by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie. The production boasts impressive set design, costume design, lighting, and sound, contributing to its overall allure.

This is an event not to be missed – after all, missing CHICAGO would be a crime!
