Chilli Fest to fire up in Willunga

If spice is your life, this event is for you. Are you game?

There are two types of people in the world.

Those who think sweet chilli is SPICY, always order the extra mild everything, and look at the rest of us like we’re out of our minds crazy when we add a little more chilli on our already hot dishes.

It’s basically the same divide that exists between coriander lovers and haters. So, if you don’t like spice, here’s a nice guide to Adelaide’s best new bars instead.

If you love firing up your tastebuds though, what we’re about to share with you, is your reason to cancel your plans on this specific February weekend, and head to Willunga.

The Chilli Fest Willunga is a two day festival running from February 20 – 21.

The popular event has always attracted crowds, with pretty much all cultures embracing the taste sensation, using chillies as coveted cooking ingredients (plus, they’re easy to grow!).

The 2021 program will be led by McLaren Vale’s Hillside Herbs, who have played an integral role over the events fifteen-year history.

The popular business will be showcasing their iconic collection of chilli plants.

The festival will also feature the world’s hottest chilli sauces from Chilli Fest first timers, Hezeus Hot Sauces, Caprica Chilli Sauce.

Other participants include Bali in a Jar, Spice Girlz Gourmet, White Valley Jalapenos, Back 2 Basics Traditions, Chilli Factory Distributors, Yowchup Sauces, Brutus Hot Sauce, Matchett Productions & Big Sissy Foods, Grund’s Gourmet and Gentleman Jerky.

“As international travel is off the table for the moment, the Chilli Fest is the perfect opportunity to allow your taste-buds to travel without leaving South Australia,” said Festival Coordinator Heather Williams.

“Adelaide’s south is a mecca for chilli. Each year the festival continues to grow in popularity, and we look forward to welcoming attendees and participants from around Australia.”

The festival’s entertainment program will also showcase Willunga’s own Dustbowl Chic and The Easy Club.

Festival goers will also be able to enjoy local food, wine, craft beer and market offerings.

There will also be an opportunity to meet chilli producers and discover a little chilli history along the way, and a live cooking demonstration will be announced in the coming weeks.

“The Chilli Fest will also feature the Willunga High School who will be selling their own wine and olive oil for festival-goers to enjoy,” said We can’t wait to shine the spotlight on the great produce and talent in our region,” said Heather.

The 2021 Chilli Fest raises vital funds for the redevelopment of the Willunga Recreation Park.

The event is community owned and run by a range of volunteers or supporters.

This event has received SA Health approval and follows government guidelines in relation to COVID-19.

Tickets: Entry to the festival is $6 per adult, with free entry for children.
