“Serious Fun.” It’s an expression that is quite oxymoronic. While we try, often it is considered difficult to achieve a level of both seriousness and fun.
Unless of course you are talking about this rare and exclusive wine dinner.
Packed with a mouth-watering menu and stunning complimenting wines, the Bell Ringer dinner only occurs every two years and is a must for South Australian Wirra Wirra wine club members.
Named after the Angelus bell which sit proudly atop the winery, Wirra Wirra’s series of Bell Ringers dinners offer top food, stellar wines, super company and libellous conversations.
This year the dinner will be held at The Lion Hotel in the old cellar, part of the original Lion Brewery and the night itself will carry an extra special purpose.
“The night will also celebrate 125 years since we were “born” courtesy of Robert Strangways Wigley, and 50 years since we were “born again”, thanks to the visionary Greg Trott,” say Wirra Wirra.
Over five delicious courses, you’ll enjoy a selection of Ashton Hills sparkling, Wirra Wirra’s Adelaide Hills whites, (including a new release 2019 vintage), McLaren Vale reds and some special museum wines, included especially for Wirra Wirra’s anniversary celebrations.
And rest assured, you can expect nothing less than a delicious dining experience. The Lion Hotel’s Chef Jason Chalmers knows exactly how to marry food and wine.
How does natural Coffin Bay Oyster with Finger Lime Caviar Prosciutto and Fig Tapenade on Toast sound for a starter? Oh, and it is paired with a 2016 Ashton Hills Sparkling Vintage Rose and 2019 Mrs Wigley Rose (NR).
You will be able to hear the stories behind the wines while feasting on the menu created especially for the occasion. You can also test your knowledge in their blind tasting Wine Options game.
Tickets are $165 per person all inclusive, but quite limited and sure to sell quickly. More information and tickers can be purchased here.
While the event is exclusive to Wirra Wirra members, it is easy to become one. All you have to do is join their mailing list. More information about that can be found here.
