It’s not just for fashionistas! This year’s Adelaide Fashion Festival has an even for everyone, whether you’ve got kids or just want to take your wardrobe to the next level.

You’ve probably seen us getting super excited about the Mercedes Benz Adelaide Fashion Festival this year and that’s because there’s a line up of events bursting with action from Wednesday 17 October to Sunday 21 October—even if you’re not a fashion die-hard!

While it might seem like Adelaide Fashion Festival is just for fashion bloggers and local ‘it’ people, it really is for everyone. You don’t have to have a professionally styled Instagram account to come and enjoy.

If you’re a mum just looking for a day out with the kids or an excuse to let your hair down with the girls, this is your perfect opportunity. If you want in on the fun for the champers or just on the lookout for the upcoming season’s trends, forget buying Cosmo and get in on the real action instead.

Norwood Street Party

Discover locally made products in the market, enjoy the free runway show featuring local retailers, and treat the kids to some fun activities before they go back to school. Fashion on Parade is an event for the whole family!

Vogue Festival Launch

While the kids might not be interested in Vogue festival, Rundle Mall and Rundle Street will burst into special offers, gifts and prizes at a number of our fave city retailers for this festival launch—and who doesn’t love a freebie? Details are still incoming, so keep an eye out on the link above.

Stay & Play Street Party

It’s a street party by the sea! With the KIDDO Markets bringing the best of locally produced and sourced garments, you can find a little inspiration on how to style your little Mr or Miss. There is also a Kid Village, where there will be chalk art and a bubble artist. The day features some cooking demonstrations and fashion parades catered to slightly older kids and plenty of food and drink vendors to keep you going for the entire day.

Gilles at the Gounds: The Fashion Edit

Gilles at the Grounds opens its doors once a month for a unique market experience, but this time they’re presenting collections from emerging South Australian designers, vintage sellers and on-trend fashion houses at The Fashion Edit. These markets are always kid-friendly, so bring along your kids and let them discover their inner fashionista (or you might discover yours)!

SLOW Saturday presented by Karl Chehade Dry Cleaning brings you into the realm of sustainable and ethical fashion with a three-part runway and—wait for it—an ethically conscious three-course lunch prepared by Tasting Australia’s Simon Bryant, paired with Wicks Estate wines. This is a meal you can really feel good about, featuring sourdough with cultured butter, smoked mullet, green paw paw som tam, and BBQ mango, pineapple, sticky rice with burned palm sugar. Yum!

The AFF x White Marquee Grounds are the place to be seen during AFF. And if you’re coming down for a show—or simply up for some people watching—there’s plenty to keep you entertained.

Grab a glass of bubbles (or two) at the Wicks Estate wine bar or maybe a cocktail from the 2KW bar, before settling in for some street style inspiration. You already know what it is… Paolo Sebastian will open the Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide & Unley with a collection inspired by the revered works of Russian composer Tchaikovskyin company with a live score by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. This is definitely one runway show you don’t want to miss—but don’t fret if tickets to the first show are sold out! There’s another two on the same night.

Couture Culture

One of the most popular events of the Adelaide Fashion Festival, Couture Culture is a stunning display of bridal and evening gowns that will take your breath away, and breathe life into your dream wedding. Better yet, the pieces that will walk the runway are all hand-made in South Australia by local designers!

SA Designer Showcase
Thursday October 18, 7pmAFF Runway, Torrens Parade Ground ($79)

Here’s your chance to check our South Australia’s hottest talent. An exciting blend of styles and aesthetics, the SA Designer Showcase will include ready to wear pieces, activewear, underwear, swimwear, resort wear and accessories all in one runway.

Supported by an energetic soundtrack produced by local music director Filip Odzak, the runway show will be styled by Vogue fashion editor Philippa Moroney—a true believer in South Australian talent who has featured local designers and models regularly in the pages of Vogue.

Super Saturday: Acler & Aje

See two of the country’s most in-demand brands in one powerhouse runway show! Adelaide’s own Acler, and industry innovators Aje, will present their latest collections on the AFF runway. As worn by Queen Beyonce herself along with Kourtney Kardashian, Hailey Baldwin and Priyanka Chopra, be the first to see the Acler Winter ’19 and Resort ‘19 collections on the runway.

The next generation of Australian design will storm the runway at AFF, bringing new energy and ideas to Adelaide-born apparel. The runway show will be produced entirely by TAFE SA students, from hair and makeup to lighting, visual merchandising, catering, event management, music and graphics. Come along for an exciting look at the future of fashion!
