Christian Brothers College students kick off their futures with Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is giving Adelaide co-educational all-boys Christian Brothers College (CBC) students the chance to live and train like a pro.

One of the most prestigious football (soccer) clubs in the world, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is giving Adelaide co-educational all-boys Christian Brothers College (CBC) students the chance to live and train like a pro.

In just two weeks, a select group of sixteen aspiring athletes from CBC will embark on an elite soccer training experience in London with Tottenham Hotspur. Giving them the chance to live, train, and breathe like professional soccer players, participating in a jam-packed itinerary replicating a week of training at the Club’s state-of-the-art Training Centre.

With expert coaches guiding the way, boys will dive into an immersive 12-week training program designed to deepen their understanding of the game’s rules, strategies, and tactics. The practical and theoretical learning experience will include a unique blend of high-level training, including drills on the pitch, fitness testing in the gym, competitive matches with partner schools, and nutrition workshops.

CBC soccer student Brock M. said, “It will be an unreal experience, having the chance to learn from Tottenham Hotspur’s Football Academy coaches for an entire week and getting to train in the same facilities as their First Team.”

Another student, Matias A., shared Brock’s enthusiasm, saying “I am excited to experience first-hand a Premier League level of soccer training in London with one of the world’s best clubs.”

This trip not only aims to enhance their soccer skills but also provides invaluable life experiences that can open doors to various career paths in sports.

Oscar M., another student attending the trip, shared his aspirations.

“This trip will be an opportunity for myself and my teammates to showcase our talent and learn from some of the best,” he said.

CBC students will benefit from a rich pool of expertise, not only from CBC’s staff, including former Adelaide United player Marcelo Carrusca, but also from the coaching staff at Tottenham Hotspur’s Football Development Academy.

Principal David Johnston noted, “Each year, we will have a Tottenham Hotspur Football Development Coach join us in Adelaide for the entirety of Term 2 to work with our students across the Junior and Senior Campuses as part of our Soccer Program.”

“We are incredibly proud to be the only College in South Australia with this partnership,” said Principal David Johnston.

“Our boys will benefit from specialised training by a Tottenham Hotspur coach, which is a game-changer for our elite soccer program. We’re also excited to offer select students the chance to travel to England and experience the club firsthand!”

This innovative partnership not only focuses on developing soccer skills but also opens doors for students, creating pathways for talent to shine on both national and international stages.

Chris Acaster, Head of Global Coaching at Tottenham Hotspur, said they are “incredibly excited to announce our partnership with Christian Brothers College”.

“After our recent pre-season tour in Australia, we recognised the immense talent here, and we look forward to supporting the development of players and coaches at CBC over the next three years.”

At CBC, the vision goes beyond the pitch, the partnership aims to inspire the next generation of leaders both on and off the field. By integrating this world-class soccer program into the curriculum, CBC is nurturing not only skilled athletes but also well-rounded individuals ready to tackle challenges in all aspects of life.

As the countdown to the 2024 soccer program begins, CBC is poised to unleash new opportunities and excitement for its students, setting the stage for a vibrant future in both academics and athletics.

The partnership with Tottenham Hotspur promises to be a thrilling journey that will leave a lasting impact on the CBC students and the future of Aussie soccer stars.
