Christmas Marion Mega Market
Marion Cultural Centre Plaza, 287 Diagonal Rd, Oaklands Park Date: SATURDAY 15 DECEMBER
Time: 10am – 4pm
(11am GUEST APPEARANCE by Father Christmas)
This Saturday 15th December, a fantastic community event returns by popular demand. It’s not quite Christmas until the Marion Mega Market returns to the plaza outside the Marion Cultural Centre. Local stall holders and suppliers will be offering homewares, art and craft, fashion, beauty and skin care products, jewellery and local handmade products.
For those who want to relax, there will be all day free entertainment, face painting, food stalls and the cafe. Father Christmas will also make a guest appearance for the children at 11am.
Marion Mega Market Co-ordinator Amanda Phillips of Felicity Arts encourages people to ‘come by for unique Christmas gifts and enjoy looking around at quality wares whilst supporting local business.’
‘Many of the stall holders have Christmas specials, and offer wholesale prices, and on-the-day specials that are well below the retail price of their products in store.’
Markets and cottage industries have seen quite the resurgence in a changing economy and pushes by media and government to keep money local. Markets like this one offer an alternative shopping experience with a sense of excitement, entertainment and community.
Boasting some of the best local business in SA, the precinct between the Marion Cultural Centre and the new SA Aquatic Centre will be abuzz with activity, as the Xmas Market coincides with the 'Swimming SA Open Championships'.
