Three spectacular new floats were unveiled today as the countdown begins to the Credit Union Christmas Pageant on Saturday 13 November 2010.
The 78th Credit Union Christmas Pageant was launched today among much colour and excitement to symbolise this year’s theme of ‘together we can make magic.’
“The theme for this year’s event was clearly evident here today, with the audience of over 100 children being captivated by the magic on display,” said South Australian Tourism Commission Chief Executive, Ian Darbyshire. “The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is a true icon and an event that brings the South Australian community together. “Over 300,000 people are expected to line the streets of Adelaide on 13 November to be part of this great event, which has a special place in the hearts and minds of generations of South Australians.”
Three new floats designed for the 2010 event were unveiled; the new lead float Trumpeting in 2010, Mother Goose’s Christmas Table and Christmas Jazz in the Park, which is a replica of the octagonal rotunda in Adelaide’s Elder Park.
Peter Evers, Chair, Credit Union Christmas Pageant Company, said the credit unions were once again looking forward to the event and the opportunity to give back to the community. “To see the magic and the expressions on the kids’ faces here today is just a taste of what to expect on Credit Union Christmas Pageant day. Each year the event just gets better and better,” Mr Evers said. “The credit unions are very proud of their commitment to an event that is free, that brings people together and the city to a standstill to be entertained, enthralled and taken to a magical place.
“This year we’re celebrating 15 years of the credit unions’ naming rights sponsorship of the Pageant bringing the true meaning of community to the city streets.”
The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is owned and managed by the South Australian Tourism Commission on behalf of the South Australian Government and sponsored by five leading South Australian credit unions – Savings & Loans, Australian Central, Community CPS Australia, Credit Union SA and Police Credit Union.
The 2010 Credit Union Christmas Pageant will be held in Adelaide on Saturday 13 November.
