The Adelaide City Council is committed to making Adelaide the most joyful and spirited place during the Christmas season, and they want your input! As they prepare to update the Christmas Festival Action Plan for 2025 to 2028, the Council invites the community to share ideas to help shape the future of Christmas celebrations in our City.

While this year’s Christmas plans are already locked in, there’s still plenty of to look forward to. The Giant Christmas Tree in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga will be beautifully redecorated, and the Council is also working on plans to replace the tree in the future… because it has been around for a while. They’re keen to hear your thoughts on this as well.

The previous Christmas Festival Action Plan, created during the pandemic in 2020, focused on recovery. Now, the Council is keen to reconnect with the community and understand how all South Aussies want to celebrate Christmas. They’re particularly interested in your thoughts on fun activities you’d love to see during the festive season and where in the City or North Adelaide you would like to see activity. The Council also wants to know about the importance of investing in Christmas celebrations.

You can join the festive conversation by submitting your feedback through a form available on their website. But don’t wait too long if you’d like to have your say – submissions close next Monday, September 30th at 9am.

The consultation process will wrap up at the end of September, followed by a Council Workshop in November. Keep an eye out for a draft plan in early 2025 that will incorporate your suggestions!

Remember, this year’s Christmas activities are already set and will not be part of the current consultation. The Christmas season will still be kicking off in the City with the famous Christmas Pageant as usual, and will wrap up on Christmas Day.
