CIBO opens under Hutt Street’s most gracious verandah

Dubbed CIBO Espresso “under the veranda grande”, the iconic espresso bar that has captured Adelaide has opened today in Hutt Street ahead of next week’s Tour Down Under.

Located in the building previously occupied by Citrus restaurant, the CIBO team has been working around the clock to open its 16th Adelaide store – taking the total number to 18 with two stores in Brisbane.

CIBO Espresso director Roberto Cardone says cycling and espresso are synonymous with the Italian lifestyle, so it was vital for the Hutt Street store to be ready for the Santos Tour Down Under.

“So many of our regulars are cycling enthusiasts that we knew many of those attending the Cancer Council Classic preview in the East End this Sunday would head down Hutt Street in search of a true taste of Italy,” he said.

“The historic building’s gracious verandah is perfectly suited to alfresco dining in Adelaide’s Mediterranean climate and will offer a shady retreat for Tour fans and cyclists alike.”

In fact, Hutt Street has been on CIBO Espresso’s radar as an ideal location for years.

“This streetscape is a perfect setting for CIBO Espresso and there has been a lot of interest from our customers in opening on Hutt Street over the years, but it’s simply been a matter of finding the right site on this tightly held strip,” he said.

“When this beautiful building became available we jumped at the opportunity and we wish the store owners Enrico and Orietta every success.”

The opening of CIBO Espresso on Hutt Street caps off a momentous four months for the brand that introduced espresso culture to Adelaide.

It celebrated its 10th birthday on December 28, and the Burnside Village store was named Australia’s Best Coffee Shop at the Restaurant and Catering Awards. It also opened a new, state-of-the-art pasticceria and gelateria at its Windsor Gardens headquarters where CIBO Espresso’s signature gelati, pastries and savoury dishes are all created by hand, including a mouth-watering new summer menu that is striking a chord with Adelaide.

Plans are also afoot to expand interstate, with CIBO Espresso scouring Melbourne for suitable locations.

CIBO Espresso is a classic Italian espresso bar established in Adelaide in 2000, which was born from a passion for quality Italian food and coffee. Today, CIBO Espresso has a presence in Adelaide and Brisbane with a total of 18 locations. www.ciboespresso.com.au
