South Australia’s best tiny tourism town revealed

The winners of the 2024 SA Top Tourism Town Awards have been announced, with the spotlight shining directly on Burra in the Clare Valley.

The winners of the 2024 hello SA Top Tourism Town Awards have been announced, with the spotlight shining directly on Burra.

Burra took out the awards, winning both the People’s Choice Award and the Tiny Tourism Town Award. The People’s Choice Awards gives the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite South Australian town, highlighting Burra’s popularity, and its position as a premier destination in SA.

Located two hours from Adelaide, Burra was once a bustling copper mining hub and the draws visitors from far and wide because of its rich heritage and unique small town charm, blending both history and natural beauty.

The hello SA Top Tourism Town Awards recognises South Australian towns that offer the best and most unique experiences, and strongly contribute to the state’s tourism sector.

All winners from the 2024 hello SA Top Tourism Town Awards include:

  • 2024 hello SA Tiny Tourism Town – Burra
  • 2024 hello SA Small Tourism Town – Coober Pedy
  • 2024 hello SA Top Tourism Town – Victor Harbor
  • 2024 hello SA Peoples’ Choice Award – Burra

This year there were twelve towns in the running across the Top, Small and Tiny Tourism Town categories, with the entrants including Ardrossan, Burra, Coober Pedy, Coffin Bay, Hawker, Langhorne Creek, Mintaro, Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Prospect, Victor Harbor and Willunga.

While only three towns were named winners, Adelady, the naming partner of these awards, took to Instagram (@adelady) saying “… in our eyes, every SA town is a winner!”

“A huge congratulations to all the South Australian towns that were a part of the hello SA 2024 Top Tourism Town Awards tonight. We were so so honoured for @hellosatv to be the naming partner of these awards, and loved announcing the winners at tonight’s event! In saying that… in our eyes, every SA town is a winner!” Adelady (@adelady) said via Instagram.
