CLB3X3 Basketball Joins Forces With The City of Port Adelaide Enfield

An event aimed at all ages & all abilities, CLB3X3 combines Elite sport with grassroots to bring you a festival of 3X3 action along with food trucks, bars, live music, family amusements and a free outdoor cinema.

From Thursday 11th January to Sunday 14th January, athletes, spectators and families from all over Adelaide (and interstate) will converge at Harts Mill, Port Adelaide for a festival of the Olympic’s latest sport.

But what is CLB3X3 we hear you asking (we asked it ourselves), but never fear, we’re here with the answers. CLB3X3 is organised basketball with 3 players a side and is an event aimed at all ages & all abilities. A unique mix of Elite sport and grassroots to bring you a festival of 3X3 action along with food trucks, bars, live music, family amusements and a free outdoor cinema.

General Manager of Champions League Basketball Matt Hollard says “We have been travelling around Australia now since 2014, aligning ourselves with key community organisers, councils, event owners and Elite sporting organisations to provide Junior and Open players with a 3X3 competition emerged in a festive and safe environment for families to attend (for free).

“Councils and community stakeholders play a big part in what we do and we are very appreciative of the support we have received so far. We have seen a real growth over the last two years in 3X3 and now it is great to see a growth in the spectators that come and enjoy “the show” as well.”

Players can register to compete in a range of competitions over the weekend from a Junior tournament at the 36ers v Cairns game on Thursday night to a Corporate Cup held on the Friday from 6pm onwards, (a great way to network and keep fit) or as a Junior or Open player on the Saturday from 10am onwards for their chance to win great prizes and world ranking points… or you might just want to come along and enjoy the atmosphere and meet your favourite player from the 36ers or see the stars come out on top during the Finals series on Sunday.

“CLB3X3 are Australia’s premiere entrepreneurs of 3-on-3 basketball,” five-time Basketball Australia Hall of Fame nominee and legendary basketball writer Boti Nagy said.

“Their events are a celebration of the game and a festival of fun for participants and spectators alike. I can’t wait to experience their series at Port Adelaide.”

Recently announced as the latest sport to be listed as an Olympic discipline for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, past, current and future basketball players now have another pathway in which they can play at an Elite level and even for their country some day.

3X3 is simple and flexible enough to be played anywhere and by anyone. All you need is a hoop, a half-court, and six players, and with free entry, the weekend provides a terrific chance to check out some of Australia’s best 3×3 athletes from the CLB3X3 Elite divisions, or even register with a few mates to give the sport a try yourself.

“As the home of the Port Adelaide AFL club, and three major basketball clubs, we love our sport in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. It is exciting to welcome 3X3 basketball to Hart’s Mill and with free entry for spectators, I encourage everybody to grab a ball and get active in January.”

“This will be a huge week for sport in Port Adelaide, with 3X3 Basketball and the Tour Down Under both happening within days of each other,” said Mayor Gary Johanson.
