On Monday 10th of February at around 4:15am, approximately 20 CFS firefighters responded with four trucks to a train diesel leak in Upper Sturt, Adelaide Hills, a 1.5km long freight train collided with a tree branch, damaging the diesel tank and brakes. Thankfully, the driver was unharmed and brought the train to a safe stop.

The HazMat brigades worked quickly to plug the leak and contain the diesel spill. Thanks to their efforts, the leak was limited to around 8,000 to 10,000 L, a significant reduction from the tank’s full capacity of 20,000 L. brigades worked quickly to plug the leak and contain the diesel spill. Emergency services are still active in the area managing the cleanup and tree removal.
