City dwellers or travellers seeking a serene retreat in close proximity to the bustling city are set to have their wishes granted. Plans have been proposed for two stunning retreats nestled cliffside on a picturesque property along Glen Osmond Road, under the jurisdiction of the City of Burnside.

Outlined in the plans it says, “we really hope you enjoy your stay taking in the beautiful views and clean air we have to offer so close to the City of Adelaide.”

The designs are by LookaDesign, a South Australian-based building design company known for its innovative approach to architecture, and these retreats promise to redefine the concept of off-grid luxury so close to the city centre.

Their design ethos is grounded in the belief that thoughtful design can impact both people and the spaces they inhabit.

True to this philosophy, the retreats seamlessly blend into the natural landscape, offering guests an unparalleled experience surrounded by native vegetation, including Grey Box Gum Trees and Manna Gum Trees, complemented by the beauty of Cream Lea Pennisetum (which is an Australian native with beautiful cream flower heads).

What sets these retreats apart is their unique location—a mere 10 kilometres, or a 12-minute drive, from the heart of Adelaide’s CBD.

Despite their proximity to Adelaide’s CBD, guests will find themselves transported to a world of tranquility and seclusion, with nothing but verdant treetops stretching out in front of them.

Each one-bedroom retreat will be built into the cliffside, featuring a car park on the roof, minimising their environmental footprint while maximising space efficiency. The pièce de résistance? A rooftop garden filled with the graceful Lomandra longifolia, its deep green foliage with delicate yellow flowers.

Inside, guests are greeted by a charming living area that transitions seamlessly into a spacious bedroom complete with an ensuite bathroom. But the real showstopper—a bathtub strategically positioned in front of a floor-to-ceiling window, offering unparalleled views of the surrounding vegetation.

Each retreat comes equipped with a petite kitchenette, perfect for whipping up a quick meal using locally sourced ingredients. And when it’s time to unwind, guests can retreat to their private patio which overlooks the surrounds.

The plans for the two retreats are still in approval process, with the the closing date for the proposal on March 19th. Find more details here.
