Coast Is Calling vouchers launch to support struggling seaside towns

Enter the Coast is Calling ballot to win travel vouchers and support South Australia’s coastal towns.

Coastal towns across South Australia are doing it tough, and now there is a powerful way to help. A new tourism voucher program has opened, calling on locals to explore the coast and support businesses impacted by the recent algal bloom.

More than 230 tourism operators are taking part in the Coast is Calling voucher program. The initiative is part of a $28 million support package, designed to rebuild confidence in regional travel and give coastal communities a much-needed boost.

The ballot closes at 10pm on Monday 22 September. South Australians aged 18 and over can enter to win travel vouchers valued at $100, $200 or $500. Successful entrants will be notified on Tuesday 23 September and can begin booking straight away for travel between 24 September and 30 November.

Premier Peter Malinauskas says the program is about protecting the future of regional operators.

“Even towns that have not been directly affected are struggling because of public perception. We need every South Australian to support these communities.”

The voucher travel window includes the school holidays and October long weekend, making it an ideal time for a coastal escape. Options include everything from boutique hotels and off-grid eco stays to holiday parks and cabins. Experience vouchers can also be used for fishing charters, surf lessons, wildlife encounters, tastings, kayaking and more.

Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison says the program is already seeing strong industry support.

“We have worked closely with operators to make sure this lands at the right time. These vouchers are about showing people that our coastal towns are not just open, they are thriving and ready to welcome guests.”

A seaside getaway could be just around the corner, and your booking could help a community bounce back.
