Nestled amongst the breathtaking landscapes in the Adelaide Hills, Cobb’s Hill Estate has revealed its latest masterpiece—the all-new Terrace Restaurant.
Boasting a premium Australian-inspired menu, which you can enjoy overlooking the gardens and Cobb’s Hill Valley, it officially opened its doors to the public on August 26th.

“I’m so excited to be part of the next chapter in the Cobb’s Hills story. Our new restaurant showcases the best of the Adelaide Hills, with a refined and creative menu served alongside our premium cool climate wines and topped off with exceptional service and gorgeous surroundings,” Restaurant Manager Prue Olsen says.

With roots tracing back to 1854 and a steadfast commitment to excellence in wine, service, and ambience, the introduction of this restaurant marks an exciting chapter for both visitors and locals.
Born from the necessity of creating covered spaces for year-round enjoyment, the Terrace Restaurant adds a new dimension to Cobb’s Hill’s legacy.

“Our garden venue is expansive, but it lacks a covered space. As the idea evolved, we envisioned introducing new culinary delights, and that’s when the concept of an enclosed area with a restaurant and bar came to life,” General Manager Jed Hicks explains.
Embracing the essence of sustainability, the Terrace Restaurant will be an ode to the bounties of Cobb’s Hill’s working farm. With an array of Black Angus cattle, Southdown sheep, and flourishing vegetable patches, the restaurant’s cuisine aims to celebrate the estate’s own harvest.

“Our goal is to create a seasonal menu that will always use as much produce from our estate and surrounding farms as possible. Accompanying our amazing home-grown produce is a deep appreciation for the art of fire. We’re not just cooking; we’re infusing each creation with the smoky, charred essence only fire can provide,” Head Chef De Buys Nortier says.
The kitchen features a 3-metre-long grill and wood-fired oven. Under the guidance of Head Chef De Buys Nortier and the consulting expertise of Adam Liston from Shobosho, it has a seasonal menu focusing on flame-cooked dishes.

The seasonal menu includes a 4 and 6-course set Chef’s selection designed to show off the Estate’s fresh produce. There are also wine pairings available as an option for the Chef’s menu.
A few highlights that Head Chef De Buys Nortier is excited to share with visitors include the lightly smoked scallop with lemon thyme, togarashi, blood lime, pig face, caviar Japanese turnip and sea grapes, and the wood-fired Cobb’s Hill Southdown Lamb Loin with garlic shoots, sweet bread and Cobb’s Hill Pinot Noir jus.
You too, can enjoy the delicious food among the stunning architectural design featuring stone and timber elements, along with bi-fold windows that can open up to embrace the stunning views on sunny days. A large fireplace provides warmth and coziness during the winter months.

The history of Cobb’s Hill Estate is rich and fascinating, dating back to 1854 when Cobb’s farm on the Swamp Run was the origin of today’s Cobb’s Hill Estate on Swamp Road. It played its part in Australia’s transportation history, with pastures for horses employed in pulling the iconic Cobb & Co. stagecoaches through the Adelaide Hills from 1867.
Today, Cobb’s Hill Estate is a beautiful property covering over 250 acres, featuring 75 acres of vineyards, as well as Black Angus cattle and Baby Doll Southdown sheep. Over the last 25 years, the vineyards have been carefully cultivated to focus on premium, cool-climate grape varieties, consistently producing high-quality wines.
