Coffee for Charity will sling coffee with 100% proceeds to Down Syndrome SA

Coffee for Charity will be slinging coffee and snacks at Oaklands Park Reserve with all proceeds going to Down Syndrome SA on Christmas Day.

Your Christmas morning coffee is about to taste even better with Coffee For Charity.

Running from 8:30am-11am on December 25, Coffee for Charity will be slinging coffee and snacks at Oaklands Park Reserve with all proceeds going to Down Syndrome SA.

The proceeds will be helping the charity raise funds for a getaway that is planned for 2022.

Down Syndrome SA provides advocacy, support and services to people in South Australia with Down syndrome. They aim promote inclusion, diversity and opportunity for people living with Down syndrome to help them reach their full potential.

They have a getaway planned from February 18 to 20, 2022 at a Semaphore cabin retreat planned for people with down syndrome. These retreats run three times a year for adults and children with down syndrome.

They have activities and fun things planned during their stay and the money will go towards supporting this.

The event is run by the team behind Incognito Café. Owner Brett Dowsett said they will be setting up their coffee kart under a marquee on the spacious and open lawns of the park. Brett said the cause is close to home for him.

“My sister had a down syndrome boy two years ago,” he said.

“It made me realize the impact on life and the road ahead and it’s only going to get harder and harder.

“We want to help those in need as much as we can.”

There will be coffee with milk alternatives on the day as well as delicious tarts to try as your festive morning kicks off.

Portuguese Custard Tarts are being provided by Saudade at Mitchem Park, who generously donated 75 tarts to the event.

Brett said Incognito Café raffle will be drawn on the day too. Every coffee purchased at the café in December goes in the draw to receive one of many prizes donated by local businesses.

The businesses who have contributed to the raffle or donated to the Coffee for Charity event include Paris Creek Farms, Saudade Portuguese Custard Tarts, Dawn Patrol coffee, Milklab, Northland Distributors and Botanic Hair. have also volunteered to do videography on the day.

There will be groovy tunes to sound track the feel-good morning and guaranteed delicious cups of caffeine, which can be hard to find with many cafés closed on Christmas day.

Head to Oaklands Park Reserve after you’ve opened the presents under the tree on Christmas day, and have a great coffee for a great cause.
