Coffee Gurus Lay Down Roots With First Deli

Forget Aroma and the uni canteen, there’s a new campus cafe you need to be checking out.

Let’s be honest…uni can be a real drag sometimes. And when you finally get that sweet, sweet respite in between lectures and tutes, there’s not a whole lot of places you can really chill out and refuel on campus aside from Aroma (bless your soul) or ye ‘ol canteen. Until now – well… for UniSA’s Mawson Lakes students at least – thanks to the opening of the Brightside Deli.

The guys behind it know good coffee as they’re involved with espresso/cocktail van, The People vs. Coffee. The takeaway cups alone are enough reason for a visit. The arty, colourful designs are Instagram-gold as well as environmentally friendly which ties in nicely with the Deli’s ethos. They also encourage customers to bring their own cups along with offering 30c – save your (student) money, save the environment. Simples. On top of that, they use locally roasted coffee from Blk Mrkt and source most of their produce from our own backyard. Jacinta says although their in the middle of evolving the Deli, they’re ‘big supports of produce that is community-based’.

Foodwise, you’ve got some nice, easy options including ham & cheese toasties, wraps, granola cups and more.

‘Something we pride ourselves on is our service as we aim to provide a more engaging customer experience and try to get know people on a more personal level,’ says owner Jacinta.

Stay up to date with the Brightside Deli on their Facebook page. You’ll find them located in Building MM, UniSA Mawson Lakes campus.
