COMING SOON: Bad Neighbour and Chocolate Boys join forces for a delicious double dose of indulgence with new eatery

A new eatery bringing two distinct personalities under one roof. Chocolate Boys and the bold newcomer Bad Neighbour will create a mix of sweet temptation and savoury attitude.

Two familiar faces in Adelaide’s food scene are stirring up something delicious at Harbour Town. The team behind Adelaide’s viral dessert brand Chocolate Boys are back, this time with a cheeky new sidekick called Bad Neighbour.

Together they will serve everything from handcrafted focaccias to over-the-top chocolate creations in one indulgent new space.

The new eatery brings two distinct personalities under one roof. The decadent dessert haven Chocolate Boys and the bold newcomer Bad Neighbour will create a mix of sweet temptation and savoury attitude, all in one spot.

The venture comes from food entrepreneurs Simon Flocco and Stefan Nestrovic. Between them they have built some of Adelaide’s most talked-about venues, including 50sixone and Munchies. Now they are taking over the former Harbour Town CIBO Espresso site and giving it a bold new life.

Stefan says the idea took shape when Harbour Town invited them to open a coffee venue.

“We thought, sure, but it needed something more. Coffee and dessert go together, but we wanted something with a bit more spark,” he explains.

“We love sandwiches, so we created Bad Neighbour as the cheeky opposite to Chocolate Boys. It felt right straight away.”

Inside, the shop has been split into two halves that meet in the middle. One side belongs to Bad Neighbour, slicing deli meats fresh on the counter, piling them into focaccias, and serving toasted melts with a good hit of caffeine.

The other belongs to Chocolate Boys, dipping strawberries, drizzling Dubai-style chocolate, and loading cookies so full of flavour they should come with a warning. An açai bar will add something lighter for summer.

The project came together at lightning speed.

“We had four weeks to build the whole thing,” Simon says.

“Every day was a race to find solutions. Our slicer was meant to come from Europe, but the delivery time blew out to months. We managed to find the same one in Australia and grabbed it straight away. You just have to keep moving.”

Visually, the two brands share the space while keeping their own identity. Chocolate Boys sticks with its red and white palette, while Bad Neighbour goes for green and white.

“They clash a little, but in a fun way,” Simon says.

“It’s all about having that energy. Even the social media will bounce off each other like siblings.”

The team plan to keep the menu evolving, with weekly sandwich specials and iced drinks for the warmer months.

“We’re bringing in a can sealer so customers can grab their drinks on the go,” Stefan says.

When asked what’s next, Simon smiles.

“Right now, we’re putting everything into this one. It feels good, it feels different, and it feels very us.”
