Popular Mediterranean restaurant Ballaboosta is opening a second venue in the Eastern suburbs of Adelaide!

Ballaboosta’s new location in Burnside is filled to the brim with welcoming, homestyle cooking, perfect for those cold winter months.

“Ballaboosta Burnside will match the blueprint of our city restaurant, but on a bigger scale,” said Co-owner/operator, Menz Delkic.

“The menu will be slightly bigger, and the restaurant will be quite an upgrade in size – like 3 to 4 times bigger,” he said.

“There will be a bigger wine list, more cocktails, but the same warm, rustic, homey sort of vibe.”

After running into a few timeline delays, Ballaboosta Burnside is set to open in a month.

“We’ve got very limited space here [at our Halifax restaurant] and its very weather dependent. [The Burnside restaurant will be] four times of the size indoors, and outdoors is completely undercover,” said Menz.

Located at the corner of Glynburn Road and Waterfall Terrace, the Burnside restaurant will also welcome indoor/outdoor dining when the weather eventually brightens up.

“[The new location] is this place but on steroids. There are two outdoor areas, with tables running along the outside terrace… [We plan to have] big communal tables as well as smaller tables – all enclosed – and a raised patio area big enough to fit 12 people,” he said.

“We also have bifold doors to open up the space, so it doesn’t feel like you’re sitting inside and you’re connected to the outdoors.”

For those who may not be familiar with Ballaboosta, the cafe was so-named to honour co-owner Naj Moubayed’s mother, Betty, who embodies the perfect homemaker reference.

Inspired by the flavours of Lebanon and Syria, the menu is an attractive array of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern favourites.

Ballaboosta specialises in gorgeous wood oven pizzas – hence the Mediterranean element – but also serves up dishes such as manoush, baba ganoush, kibbeh and sambousik (pastry pockets filled with minced beef and pine nuts).

“With the food, you’re looking at falafel, haloumi, salads, soups, all of our meat, chicken, lamb comes out of the wood fired oven,” said Menz.

“The menu is built to share. We’re still working on the menu additions for Burnside – we’ll know closer to the open date. We’re working on a baked eggplant dish for now but can’t say too much!” he said.

Ballaboosta is located at 540 Glynburn Road, Burnside 5066
