New Indian tapas restaurant Chakna Tandoori Bites will be opening August 25th on Rundle Street, bringing all the flavours of India to Adelaide’s CBD. The restaurant will be a fusion of Northern Indian flavours with an Aussie twist in what sounds like a winning combination.
The restaurant is envisioned as a one-stop destination for all things food, drink, and good times with an authentic tapas experience to be paired with a sophisticated cocktail bar.
Along with a menu that is designed to be enjoyed with friends, the bar will be launching with an extensive menu featuring 35 classic and 15 signature cocktails along with a range of tap beers and nine shots.
The main feature of the restaurant will be the sizzlers – an Indian medley dish where several finger foods are served on a hot plate that perfectly crisps and caramelises food as you eat. With both main and desserts options, it’s set to be a must try.
At night is when the restaurant will truly come alive. Owners Ravi and Neetu Singh have spared no expense in bringing the vibe of Urban Indian to Adelaide, with soft lighting features all around the restaurant and bar and handmade cutlery from Turkey to adorn soft booths and high table seating options. The restaurant is not strictly a fine dining experience, but rather something all of its own.
“We don’t even know what to call it. It will be high end, we are trying to pick up things from different parts of the world. It will be very different,” Ravi says.
If that’s not enough to peak your interest, the bar will also feature a beautiful Japanese blossom tree and mirrored wall that is perfect for the Instagram shot. But with many onlookers already eager for doors to open, you’ll be wanting to book in when the booking system becomes available in the next few days.
Of course, the most important thing to Ravi and Neetu is providing high quality authentic Indian food, with dishes to be cooked with only the highest quality ingredients according to authentic Indian recipes, all cooked by two main chefs with experience all over the world.
Ravi and Neetu have had the dream of opening a restaurant ever since they arrived in Australia six and a half years ago, and on the 23rd of August they will be able to finally serve their first customers with a pre-launch before opening to the public.
The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, with a lunch specials menu featuring classic dishes such as butter chicken starting at the price of $12.
