It’s an Adelaide cult classic that has been feeding Prospect for almost four years. And owners Jack Crichton and Christie Wilkinson are getting ready to share the bagel love with more of Adelaide.
Frankly Bagels has revealed exclusively to Glam Adelaide that they will be launching a second store, in the Norwood Green complex on Magill Road.
“Our Prospect store is maxing out on what we can put through it. It’s a great problem to have, and it’s just been amazing to see how popular it has been. But we’ve been looking for that next spot for a while,”Christie said.
So, when the 140sqm spot in Norwood Green came along, they knew the time was right. And given the new size, they’re upping the anti too.
“It’s a great spot, on the eastern side of Norwood Green. We always wanted to branch out in inner urban locations, and so Norwood just seemed like the perfect fit. It’s got a great residential population, and a great business population,” Christie said.
“We’re really excited to introduce a working bagel bakery in this new spot, given the size. We currently buy our bagels in so this will mark a really exciting new chapter for us,” Jack added.
That’s right. Their second store will house a working bagel bakery.
And whilst their focus in the short term will be getting both Frankly Bagels’ stocked with delicious, house-made bagels, you’ll soon be able to purchase them plain, too.
In terms of menu, there’ll be many similarities between the two stores, with some cult favourite menu items definitely securing their spot on the menu. You’ll be able to indulge in the pastrami and swiss cheese bagels, or the smoked salmon with dill caper cream cheese. But, Christie and Jack quip, there might be something more, too.
And, of course, they’ll be slinging St Ali coffee as the perfect bagel compliment.
“We’re going to have a few more funky menu items, with some different offerings to our Prospect store.”
The Norwood location will have a focus on quick eats, with 20 internal seats as well as alfresco outdoor dining. Creative-led interior design studio CTRL Space will be behind the fit out, creating a space that has minimalism at its core.
“It’s going to be similar to our Prospect store, so pretty minimal – but given the size of the space, we’re going for a bit more an industrial vibe, with concrete finishes, and timber products.” Christie explained.
“The bakery will be interactive, with viewing windows, so you’ll be able to get a real insight into the bagel baking process.”
Frankly Bagels will be opening at 88 Magill Road in December. For more information, stay up to date on their Facebook page here.
