It is a universally acknowledged fact that sometimes there comes a time when you have to take the plunge and follow your dreams. For Cupcakes and More by Simone, that cannot be more true.
Following in that sentimental vein, Cupcakes and More by Simone is set to open its first-ever brick and mortar store this month.
The titular Simone has been operating as a home-based sweet treat business for more than 10 years, but now, she is finally ready to debut her work on a bigger stage.
From celebration cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, cake pops and more, Simone has made a name for herself as a renaissance woman, but it hasn’t always been so easy.
“8 months ago I decided to more or less give up caking and focus my thoughts and energy into my new role as a medical receptionist. Even though I loved this job and my work colleagues and doctors were wonderful. I still kept thinking about cakes and cookies,” Simone said.
Simone intends to start off small, only opening on Friday and Saturday mornings for people to come in and collect their online orders. But don’t fret, there will be a small assortment of individual sweet treats on display that will be available for purchase. Depending on demand, we may even see a dedicated dessert cafe in the future, with Simone hinting at the prospect.
“We’re still in the midst of the construction and are placing final touches on things but there is room for a coffee machine and a small space for dining, so hopefully that will be something that people can get excited for in 2023,” Simone said.
The intended theme of the new space will be light and airy with an emphasis on contemporary elegant elements with the use of blush tones, golds and whites, with a gold chandelier featuring as an accent piece.
For years now, Simone has been wanting to cater for vegan and gluten-friendly options, with this new venture she plans on doing just that.
“All of my baking is made from scratch with fresh ingredients and I pride myself on customer service with regular customers been around for almost 10 years, and I know there is a definite craving for gluten-friendly and vegan options,” Simone continued.
When asked what her favourite dessert to make is, Simone respectfully said “I do love making cookies especially when there’s extra to snack on.” That ladies and gentlemen single-handedly won us over.
