It was around four years ago when Luay Fandi had his first-ever taste of açaí, a small dark purple berry that derives from the Amazon rainforest palm.
Traditionally, the fruit is blended into a creamy, smoothie-like mixture, with an earthy, berry flavour, rich in all the good antioxidants and healthy fats. It was like nothing he’d ever tasted before, especially back home in Adelaide.
In this moment, Luay knew what his next passion project would be – an açaí, spot in Adelaide. That’s when Docee was born, officially opening last year and taking off for its viral cold creams, the venue is known for its popular acai, smoothies, coffees and desserts.
“He could use his passion in bringing people together, to gather at a place like Docee where they can create joyful and wholesome moments whilst having a healthy balance between wellness and indulgence,” Luay’s partner, Kareema Elbhalakani told us.
Now, due to popular demand, Docee is growing. “We wanted to expand and elevate, creating an atmosphere even more refined and slightly different while still keeping the core of our Docee brand in quality, generosity, consistency and vibe.”

The new venue will be located in Firle Plaza, a shopping centre about seven kilometers east of Adelaide’s CBD.
“The location felt like a natural fit for our brand and our community,” Kareema said. “It allows us to be accessible on the Eastern side of Adelaide, yet well connected with the North/East and central Adelaide.”
It’ll be bring all the same great taste we know and love from their sister store in Findon, with custom acai and fruit bowls, that can be nutrition-based or, maybe you’ll want a completely dessert-based bowl.
The menu is designed to always keep things fresh and exciting. “Our ever-changing menu, viral monthly specials, and carefully curated selection of specialty coffee… ensure there’s always something fresh to try.”

Drink specials are a sweet tooth’s dream, from tiramisu iced lattes to Bueno, strawberry and pistachio cold creams. And don’t get us started on the matcha flavours, with options like banana pudding or butterfly pea iced matcha. You can also pick up a special sweet treat, including loaded soft-serve cookies, tiramisu and cinnamon scrolls.
“We encourage our customers to custom-make their orders according to what they like, no matter what the item is, with a very long list of toppings and filling options.”
So what sets Docee apart from all the other acai spots in Adelaide?
“We put a strong emphasis on sourcing and maintaining premium açaí, ensuring every bowl is consistently rich, fresh, and true to its flavour,” Kareema said. “Combined with our specialty coffee, trendy rotating menu and viral monthly specials, Docee offers a memorable experience, a strong sense of community and a menu that’s always new and exciting.”
With new, trending and delicious monthly specials and a rotating menu, there’s bound to be something new and refreshing to try, but don’t let us be the judge, have a look for yourself.
Docee is about living with a cup half full, and they aim to fill yours to the brim with each visit. The new store is currently under construction and set to be done within the next few months.
