After close to ten years at Sellicks Beach, the general store is relocating and rebranding to the beautiful town of Myponga.
Co-owners Jim Liapis and his wife, Charmaine, have both been a part of the Fleurieu Peninsula for close to 30 years.
Jim shared they wanted their general store in Myponga to be a little bit of everything, hence the new name, “The Reservoir General”.
Jim says they are very excited about making the move to Myponga.
“Myponga was always in the back of our mind, it’s a little hidden gem,” says Jim.
“A change is as good as a holiday and Myponga is an up and coming area.
“You’ve got the Myponga Reservoir, plus Myponga is the home of the Fleurieu Milk company, and there’s the Smiling Samoyed Brewery across the road.
“We think it will be a big success, the community needs something here and we are looking for somewhere we can really call home.
“We are so looking forward to opening up and doing what we love to do.”
Jim says it will be an evolving business based on what the area needs and there will be a variety of different things for the public to purchase.
“We’re excited to be able to increase our current range of groceries, food and giftware to provide a one-stop shop with a little bit of everything,” he says.
“Coffee and cakes can be enjoyed in store, as well as a range of light meals from our takeaway menu.
“Takeaway liquor will be available in approximately six weeks; we are very grateful that we are able to get a takeaway liquor licence.
“It’s a huge bonus for any premises and these are very hard to come by.
“We want to be one of the first to really support the community.”
Jim says if all goes well, they will be aiming to open on 2 January 2022, so keep an eye out on Facebook for more updates as they come in.
