The East End is a foodie dream of dining destinations and crafty bars, and will soon welcome an all-day eatery churning out regional Italian classics from breakfast to dinner.
Italy Café Ristorante e Bar’s owner Cono Gorgone, also owner of Sicily Pizzeria e Bar on Rundle Street, says he can’t wait to reintroduce towering Rundle Street building to the beloved flavours and dishes synonymous with Italian cuisine.
“The dishes that I am looking forward to serving are many of the old school Italian classics,” says Cono. Regional dishes that come from a certain area of Italy that have become famous in many Italian menus over the years. Of course, they will be served and presented at their best.”
Highlights from the lengthy a la carte lunch and dinner menu include Gnocchi Pomodoro, Linguini Marinara, Bistecca Fiorentian and, of course, Mamma’s Lasagna. Italy Café Ristorante e Bar will also provide signature share style bites such as garlic bread, arancini and calamari.
Cono and his team will also be firing up their wood-fire oven, with a selection of Vera Pizza.
For those fancying an Italian breakfast, you’ll find a selection of biscotto, cakes and pastries to accompany your morning brew.
Spilling across a mammoth two floors and an al fresco outdoor space, the decor of Italy Café Ristorante e Bar features shades of vintage white and light industrial grey, with the floor speckled with terrazzo tiles.
